Volunteer Opportunities
Individual Volunteer Opportunities
If you’re interested in supporting low-cost car repair through volunteering your time, we’d love to have your help! Our individual volunteer opportunities include event support, making thank you calls and writing thank you cards, general office help, calling customers, organizing and cleaning, shuttle service, language translation, and more! If you have a unique professional skillset that you believe The Lift might benefit from, please let us know. Examples may include marketing, transcription, interpretation, and more!
Group Volunteer Opportunities
Are you a part of a group that would like to support our Minneapolis community by volunteering your time? We would love to have you join us! Our group volunteer opportunities are on a case-by-case basis depending on needs. Please contact us, and we can work together to see if a group project may be a good fit.
Committee Member Volunteer Opportunities
The Lift Garage is looking for non-elected committee members interested in volunteering their time to work with Board Members on our governance committee. Qualified candidates will have a basic understanding of the structural issues that contribute to poverty, a deep respect for diverse people and situations, and a willingness to learn. Ideal candidates will be solid individual contributors who are open to working collaboratively with others to accomplish the mission of The Lift. Volunteer Technicians and Service Writers
We are not currently accepting volunteer technicians and service writers, but we are grateful for your interest in volunteering with The Lift Garage! If you are skilled and trained in the trade, you may be invited to a thorough interview process. Those who qualify for this opportunity will be added to a waiting list. If you would like to support our low-income neighbors through low-cost car repair, we encourage you to explore one of our other volunteer opportunities.

FAQs
The Lift Garage is an affordable, non-profit auto repair service for all Minnesotans who meet the 150% Federal Poverty Guideline. When faced with an unexpected car repair, The Lift customers simply cannot afford market-rate repairs. Customers at The Lift pay $15/hour for labor and receive the parts at cost. As a volunteer, you help us continue to serve our low-income neighbors, supporting our community on the road to more secure lives. Learn more about our impact by clicking here.
Our volunteers are an important part of the success of several fundraising events throughout the year! These include our annual Fundraising Breakfast, Brewery Fall Fundraiser, and car show. The Lift Garage volunteers can help at these events through many different tasks, including setting up, serving food, collecting donations, and more.
Most volunteer opportunities take place at our shop in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Other opportunities, such as event volunteer opportunities, may take place at different venues in the Twin Cities area.
