What You’ll Learn
Car Care Basics
We provide participants with a basic overview of car maintenance and care, including an overview of the car dashboard, how to respond when warning lights come on, and the importance of fluids and their roles in keeping a car running.
In the shop, you’ll be able to look under the hood of the car! Here, you’ll learn how to identify where fluids go, check fluid levels and top off to the correct amount, identify basic car parts, and jump start a car battery.
Auto Shop Tips
Your car is ultimately your responsibility to take care of — and an auto shop will help you do that! We will discuss the importance of viewing the shop you work with as a partner in helping you take care of your car and the importance of being honest when seeking repairs or maintenance.
This portion of class includes information on how to find a shop, how to prepare for your appointment, and how to follow up with the shop if something goes wrong afterwards.
Used Car Insights
Buying a used car is a big purchase that requires research and planning.
In this portion of class, you’ll learn the most important information to know when shopping for a used car, what questions you should ask the seller, and how to identify additional investments (like possible repairs) a used car may need.
