What is Doors Open Minneapolis?

Doors Open Minneapolis is your chance to explore the buildings that tell our city’s story. From theaters to business hubs, sports complexes to engineering wonders, Doors Open Minneapolis will give you a FREE behind-the-scenes look at dozens of exciting venues.

On Saturday, May 9, 2026, grab your friends and head over to 2401 E Lake Street to see the inner workings of our shop. You’ll get to see what it looks like underneath a car, interact with car parts, identify repair tools, and play trivia to win car maintenance-themed prizes!

You are welcome to park in the Allina Clinic lot behind The Lift (3024 Snelling Ave). If you need accessible parking, we have two spaces available in our lot.

Volunteer at The Lift During Doors Open

We need volunteers to help give visitors a behind-the-scenes look at the important work The Lift does to keep our neighbors safer on the roads! We’ll provide training and talking points, you just need to bring your love for The Lift! We are open to the public on Saturday, May 9th from 10 am – 5 pm.

Volunteers will:

• Welcome visitors and answer questions
• Host trivia and voting activities in the conference room
• Give tours and assist technicians in the shop with car part identification
