Interested in volunteering:

Thanks for your interest in volunteering at The Lift Garage! We have a few ongoing volunteer opportunities and some on call opportunities. While we rely on volunteers for a variety of tasks, we also don’t have many opportunities available.

Current volunteer opportunities at The Lift Garage:

If you’re interested in providing low-cost car repair through volunteering your time, we’d love to have your help! These are our current options:

  • Event volunteering
  • Making thank you phone calls
  • Writing thank you cards
  • General office help including: Folding, stuffing, and stamping letters.
  • Calling customers to remind them of their appointments / Checking voicemail
  • Organizing and cleaning: Inside and outside
  • Shuttle service: Transporting clients or picking up parts
  • Language translation
  • Professional Skillset*** (Photography, Marketing, Technician*, Service Writing*, etc)
  • Group Activities**

* We are not currently accepting volunteer technicians or service writers. If you are skilled and trained in the trade you may be invited to a thorough interview process. Those who qualify will be added to a waiting list.

** We do not have group volunteer projects available unless you reach out to us. We may be able to work with you/your group depending on our needs at the time. Please reach out and we can work together to see if this is a good fit.

*** If you have a unique professional skillset that you believe The Lift might benefit from, please let us know! Examples may include: Marketing, Transcription, Interpretation, and more!

Become A Volunteer Committee Member:

We are seeking non-elected Committee members interested in working with Board members as contributors to the following Committees:

  • Development. Development provides leadership, guidance, and support as needed for ideation, support, and general guidance on fundraising strategies and activities.
  • Finance. Finance provides support in overseeing the financial strategy and performance.
  • Governance. Governance provides for the board’s effectiveness and continuing development through adequate governance policy development, recruitment strategies, training and development, monitoring of board activities, and evaluation of board members’ performance.

Qualified candidates will have a basic understanding of the structural issues that contribute to poverty, a deep respect for diverse people and situations, and a willingness to learn. Ideal candidates will be solid individual contributors who are open to working collaboratively with others to accomplish the mission of The Lift.
